A gold or commodity project can involve several distinct commercial opportunities.

The owner may be seeking a buyer for an asset, working capital for operations or funding for a defined development stage. Each requires a different assessment.

Our overview includes commodity and gold-related structuring among the bespoke capabilities that may be reviewed once the position and objective are understood.

Establish the rights behind the asset

The initial file should identify the owner, location, authority and supporting evidence. The nature of the position also matters: a physical asset, a contractual right and a project interest create different questions.

A stated valuation or projected production figure does not establish funds available for a programme. The proposed counterparty has to assess the actual position for the particular transaction.

The evidence needed follows that assessment. It should support what the client is claiming and what they have authority to do.

Define the funding purpose

If the requirement is working capital, identify the expenditure and payment dates. If the objective is an acquisition or development, set out the stages, rights and amounts involved.

Where an identified investor has a separately qualifying capital position, programme output may be considered for agreed project uses. The programme allocation and the underlying commodity project remain separately documented.

An asset-backed transaction against the commodity position itself is a distinct route requiring its own acceptance.

Connect payment to the actual use

The project instructions should identify who receives funds and what authorises release. Where distributions are linked to milestones, those milestones should be clear enough for the parties to assess completion.

The plan must also distinguish money already available from potential future receipts. Operating obligations and purchase deadlines cannot be met with a valuation or an unreceived distribution.

If you have a gold or commodity requirement, send a non-confidential summary of the position, ownership, location, objective and evidence available. Where there is an investor, identify the qualifying capital separately. That gives the review a concrete starting point.

Commodity, asset-backed and programme routes are assessed individually. Neither asset value nor future output establishes automatic funding eligibility.
