Eight out of ten times, the answer is not the asset. It is the banking corridor.

The position

The principal has the asset. They have the proof. They have the source of funds. What they do not have is a banking corridor on the receiving side that will actually accept the wire when it arrives.

This is the quietest reason real deals collapse.

The conversion sits in the middle of every file. Fiat goes in at one end. USDT, BTC or fiat comes out at the other. If the corridor on the receiving side is not live, properly onboarded and prepared to accept the documentation, the conversion does not settle. Or it settles into an account that is then frozen for compliance review.

Most retail and broker-style routes do not solve this. They send the wire and hope. The hope rarely works at institutional size.

The institutional route I am now a direct partner with solves it differently.

The desk has active banking corridors live in five jurisdictions: the US, the UK, Mexico, BVI and Brazil. Multi-currency: USD, GBP, EUR, BRL, MXN. The route includes integration with Lynq for real-time settlement, Fireblocks for custody where required, and Circle for USDC partner-directory access. The desk processes over five billion in monthly trading volume, serves more than 350 institutional counterparts including US ETF issuers, and is backed by VanEck, Valor Capital and Hack VC.

What that means in practice:

  • The receiving bank in your client's jurisdiction is one the desk has worked with before

What to consider

  • The settlement instructions arrive in a form the bank is set up to process
  • The documentation arrives with the wire, not three days later
  • The principal does not get a compliance review call from a banking relationship manager who has never seen a stablecoin off-ramp before

What it requires from the principal:

  • Real KYC
  • Source-of-funds documentation that holds up
  • A receiving account that has been properly onboarded
  • No corner-cutting

Preparing the file

If the asset is real and the corridor on the receiving side is live, the file moves cleanly.

If either is not, the file does not start.
